Lady Serita Jakes – wife, First Lady of The Potter’s House (Dallas and Fort Worth, Texas), mother, grandmother, author, ministry leader, and more – has a profound and passionate commitment to leading women to become all that God has destined them to be.

Although she’s often seen before the congregation — guiding WoMan to Woman Ministries, developing God’s Leading Ladies Life Enrichment Program, and supporting her husband, Bishop T.D. Jakes — behind the scenes, she appreciates the simpler and more meaningful things in life.  She loves being near her family, and shares that she enjoys “…loving on them and being loved and accepted unconditionally. I enjoy the good times, and I have stopped bracing for bad times.  I used to feel like I needed to carry an umbrella — because I thought there was a water balloon over my head, and I didn’t know where the pin was.”

Find Inspiration by Giving Back: 11 Ways to Touch the Lives of Others

I wrote an article in Hope for Women Magazine about giving back during the Holiday season.  Giving to others is important and gratifying to do - not just during Christmas, but all year round.  I love being able to help others in need.  I don't do it for recognition, I do it because it lights up my life to be a blessing to others.  Below is a short excerpt of the article. 

The Christmas season is a time when many people experience a desire to “give back”  — spiritually, financially, or emotionally. Inspired by our faith, our family, an awareness of our own blessings, or a compassion for others, we may feel the need to pour into the lives of those around us. Our hearts and minds go out to the elderly, or shut in…the sick, or those we know without family…veterans returned home struggling to adapt…and of course, children experiencing poverty (with 1 in 6 families currently in poverty in America, too many children may not necessarily experience a “Merry Christmas”  — or even a stable home, for that matter).

Traditional ways to give back include volunteering time or giving to food banks (see http://feedingamerica.org), donating to organizations like Toys for Tots (www.toysfortots.org), or  providing coats to keep people warm (the mission at   http://onewarmcoat.org).

Greetings to all of My Alabaster Box Readers!

Over the past few months, I have been a contributing Blogger for Hope for Women Magazine.  It has truly been a blessing to interact with such wonderful women of God.  This Magazine has been a blessing to me.  Hope recently launched its first Digital Issue.  It has some great news and articles.  Candace Cameron Bure (D.J. Tanner on the sitcom, Full House) is featured on the cover.  In the digital issue, she talks about how she balances her Faith, Family and work.
